Mike Bishop is the founder of Big Storm Brewing Co. out of Odessa, FL. He has been involved with the craft beer industry in Florida since starting as an intern at the oldest brewery in the state in 2007. He took that knowledge and used it to start the first and largest microbrewery in Pasco County in 2012. Mike was the recipient of the Siebel Institute’s John G. Doble III Memorial Scholarship in 2013, a prestigious award amongst Florida brewers, in which he used to obtain a degree in brewing technology. Big Storm has grown from servicing limited accounts in the Tampa Bay area, to now having two locations and providing beer across the state of Florida. Mike graduated from University of South Florida with a B.S. in Business Finance in 2006 and lives in Land O Lakes with his wife Erin and three children Angelo, Eric, and Alessandra.

Joel was promoted to Head Brewer in December of 2016. Joel joined Big Storm in December of 2015 and spent much of the year focused on research and development at Big Storm’s Odessa location. Joel is responsible for some of Big Storm’s more popular offerings in the taprooms like the Merchant Porter, the Belgian Quad and Quintuple and the Palm Bender Gulf Coast IPA. He began his career 2005 at a brewpub in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. Working in the brewpub afforded him the opportunity to learn how to brew a wide range of styles and cultivated a love of Belgian-style and sour ales. In 2011, Joel left the brewpub to pursue a formal brewing education. Joel received his diploma in Brewing Technology from the prestigious Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago and the Doemens World Brewing Academy in Munich, Germany. After completing his education, he moved to Salt Lake City for a position of Head Brewer at Bohemian Brewery and focused on continental European-style lagers.

Patrick Doheny is Big Storm’s Director of Operations and is focused on results-driven supply chain management, purchasing, and distribution. Patrick joined the Big Storm team with a background in managing food and beverage processing, bottling, and packaging, which is highlighted through his consistent leadership in the mass production injection molding, extrusion, and high speed assembly industries. With over 20 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, Patrick has a proven track record of method, precision, and discipline.
Patrick is a believer in emphasizing people, team, and organization, stating that the best people in the best positions equal a solid team that provides the organization optimum results. His efforts at Big Storm have been integral in producing the highest quality output and the highest quality product.

Chef Gerry Malynowski joined the Big Storm team in January of 2017 to turn Big Storm’s Pinellas taproom into a full service restaurant with catering capabilities. Gerry is a food industry veteran with more than 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He most recently served as the executive chef of Cigar City Brew Pub and Puff ‘n Stuff Events and Catering operating out of TPepin’s Hospitality Centre. Gerry’s responsibilities are varied and include supervising and managing all kitchen personnel as well as selecting and developing new recipes which he then standardizes the production of to ensure consistent quality. In addition, he also plans and prices the menu, establishes presentation techniques and quality standards and ensures proper safety and sanitation in the kitchen. Menu items include a delicious grilled chicken Banh Mi sandwich, four cheese flatbread with wilted kale, an ahi tuna tossed in a garlic ginger poke sauce, Kung Pao jumbo chicken wings and beer infused grassfed beef sliders with caramelized beer onions on house baked brioche buns.
